Trip Advisor Reviews for Decies Bed and Breakfast

“Great B&B, lovely hosts, great food, lovely setting.”
My partner and I stayed at Decies for 4 nights in June 2012 whilst we were
visiting family who live in the Midleton area. The B&B is about a mile from the
centre of town but we didnt mind this at it was a nice walk to and from town. If
it was raining we were given a lift into town by the owners. We were given tea
and coffee on our arrival and we had a nice chat with Margaret and her husband.
They gave us lots of advice about places to go/things to do. They were very
hospitable and made us feel extremely welcome. The weather wasnt that brilliant
during our stay but if it had been we would have spent plenty of time lounging
in the B&B's lovely gardens. Breakfast was fab. There was different breads and
cereals laid out in the spacious breakfast room looking out over the gardens. We
had a lovely fresh cooked Irish breakfast every morning which set us up for the
day. We would recommend this B&B if you want to stay in Midleton which is I
think about 15 miles north east of Cork. The Jameson's brewery is in Midleton.
There are plenty of places to eat and, of course, drink. The locals are very
friendly. There is also a multiplex cinema in Midleton in case it is raining. We
definitely intend to stay at Decies the next time we are visiting our family in
Midleton.

“Great little B&B; Great Hosts”
We stayed at Decies for 2 nights in August while attending my
brother-in-law's wedding in Cork, Ireland. The first thing I have to say are the
grounds are beautiful. They have a wonderful garden with a fountain in the front
that my daughter just loved. The home was very comfortable and "homey". They had
tea, coffee and biscuits set out all day in a small sitting room, off the
breakfast room. There was a living room with a fireplace and TV where everyone
was welcome to gather. We stayed in 2 rooms over the course of the 2 nights, due
our last minute reservation. Our first room actually had 2 double beds and a
single bed in it along with a wardrobe, vanity/sink, TV. We had a private bath
outside of the room. There was also a coffee maker with tea and chocolate
biscuits. The room comfortably fit our family of 3 and all of our luggage. Beds
were comfy, temperature in the room was comfy. Bathroom was huge with large tub,
separate shower, toilet and sink. A room for 3, let alone 5 is an exception in
Europe, so this was a treat. We had to move for the 2nd night, but our hosts took
care of moving everything for us while we were out touring the countryside. When
we came back everything had been moved to our new room, clothes hung in closet,
suitcases laid out. Our 2nd room had 1 double bed and a single bed, wardrobe, a
small sitting area and an en suite bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. It
also had the same coffee maker, tea and chocolate biscuits. The room was small
but worked for the 3 of us. Each morning our hosts served us a full Irish
breakfast, complete with eggs, 2 types of sausage, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes,
etc. They also had fresh fruit out, cereal, various breads (fell in love with
the Irish soda bread), coffee, tea, juice, etc. Left full enough to last the
whole day:-) Last, but definitely not least - our hosts. Margaret and her
husband (I can't recall his name right now). They were incredibly nice and so
hospitable. On more than one occasion, gave us a ride into town to save us the
cab fare. Margaret's husband took my father-in-law into town to have a beer at a
pub one afternoon while he was waiting for our arrival. We also have an 8 year
old daughter, who is not the quietest child around. But they welcomed her into
their home without reservation and were very nice to her. On another note, our
entire family stayed there for the wedding (my husband, daughter & 1; my
brother-in-law & his wife; my mother-in-law & father-in-law).If we are ever
lucky enough to return to Cork, we will definitely go back to Decies.
